Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message long enough to respond and manage the correspondence. We do not disclose it outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information when a page loads:
- Your device’s IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers may aggregate this information for us. You may block cookies through your browser, although some website functions could then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Maintain website operation, speed, and security
- Route a submitted query to the appropriate search provider
- Measure which content is useful
- Diagnose and correct technical failures
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
We do not host, maintain, sell, or compile a database of San Juan County case records or dockets. The website explains how to reach the San Juan County Clerk, Superior Court, District Court, Odyssey, and Washington’s statewide case systems. Court case records are governed by Washington GR 31. Judicial administrative records follow GR 31.1, while county executive and administrative records may fall under the Washington Public Records Act, RCW 42.56. A court case-file request is not a Public Records Act request.
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention choices, and disclosure practices govern information entered there. We do not control those practices. Review the provider’s policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to San Juan County offices, Washington Courts, court portals, legal-aid resources, and outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination’s privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites. That processing is outside our control.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Search providers that process a query
- Analytics vendors that measure performance and traffic
- Advertising networks serving website ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities responding to valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for information in our possession. No internet service is completely secure, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor submitted personal data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with your residence and applicable Washington or other privacy and consumer-protection laws. Subject to those laws, you may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal data we hold
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete eligible personal data
- Opt out of certain processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy. A revision becomes available here with a new effective date, so review this section periodically for changes.
